Star Wars: Uncut may be a useful model for Film Makers -

This is kind of how Star Wars: Uncut came to be. While working at Vimeo, I was toying around with the idea of creating a collaborative tool for film makers and using it to create a film. A tool that would help organize the film crew, actors, assets, etc. This tool would most likely be very complicated to build, so my brain automatically defaulted to the common denominator. Think of the easiest way to create a feature-length film. Split a movie into pieces and crowd-source it.

There are many permutations and evolutions of this model that could be greatly beneficial to the film community. I think this specific model has been most useful to budding film makers who are finding a creative outlet and even their fifteen seconds of fame.

Thanks for the article, Scott!
